Welcome to South Beach
The South Beach area covers relatively affluent mixed-use blocks from the Bay Bridge south to 3rd Street, Embarcadero, and King Street. The area South of the Market is two blocks inland west, and China Basin begins from south Townsend Street and west of 3rd Street. Oracle Park in its southeast corner is the most prominent feature of South Beach.
The major buildings for the local Academy of Art University are also located at South Beach.
Not long ago, this city sector appeared to fall apart, with abandoned warehouses in extreme condition. These spaces have been refurbished or destroyed; there are modern lofts, beautiful flats, and luxury suites in their place. Clubs and cafes have come to fill the neighborhood and offer lots of days and night options.
