Welcome to Parkmerced

The designers Leonard Schultze and Thomas Dolliver Church developed Parkmerced, a neighborhood in San Francisco, California, in the early 1940s. This neighborhood of apartment blocks on the west side of the Mississippi River is larger than the neighborhood of apartment blocks in Los Angeles, known as Park La Brea. It was a planned community for middle-income residents, including a series of high-rise residential buildings and garden apartment complexes in the southwest of San Francisco. The apartment complex is privately held and now has 3,221 apartments after selling five blocks to San Francisco State University (SFSU). The complex is located south of San Francisco State University, west of 19th Avenue, and east of Lake Merced and the Harding Park Golf Club. Because of its proximity to San Francisco State University, the neighborhood is popular with students and faculty. In October 2005, a joint venture between Stellar Management and Rockpoint Group purchased the property for roughly $687,028,000 from a JP Morgan Chase and Carmel Partners joint venture business.
