Welcome to Hunters Point

Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z hosted the Legends of the Summer Stadium Tour to Candlestick Park before the stadium's demolition on July 26, 2013.

Other acts such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffett, Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, and Paul McCartney have previously or concurrently performed at Candlestick Park. Pope John Paul II delivered a Papal Mass at Candlestick Park on September 18, 1987, on a U.S. tour.

Bayview–Hunters Point (or Bay View–Hunters Point) is the San Francisco, California, neighborhood in the city's southeastern corner incorporating the Bayview and Hunters Point neighborhoods. Both Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, a defunct military base, and Candlestick Park, demolished in 2015, are located entirely inside their respective limits. Due to the neighborhood's location in the southeastern part of the city, the two areas have historically been joined together. According to demographers, San Francisco's Bayview–Point Hunter's has been classified as the city's "most isolated neighborhood."

By the early '90s, '00s, and the first half of the '10s, redevelopment efforts for the area became the primary problem. A variety of strategies are proposed to accomplish the goal, including a project known as the Bayview Redevelopment Plan for Area B, which will cover over 1300 acres of existing residential, commercial, and industrial areas. This economic activity node strategy highlights seven areas of economic growth within the community. Also part of the rehabilitation plan is the desire to turn the former Navy Shipyard riverfront site into a mix of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces.
