Haight

Appreciate the neighborhood's distinctive, historical beauty.

Welcome to Haight

The residents of the Haight will be able to enjoy the conveniences of quality restaurants, a wonderful park, and many everyday necessities, all within walking distance. As such, the neighborhood of Haight in San Francisco is remarkable, thanks to its lengthy history and unique San Francisco culture. Structures with Victorian details such as high ceilings, plaster moldings, and staircases undoubtedly fall into the history and character of the Victorian era. Whether traveling through the area or just spending time at home, everyone will appreciate the neighborhood's distinctive, historical beauty. It offers easy daylong jaunts through Golden Gate Park, short hikes to get stunning vistas of Twin Peaks, picnicking with the colorful lady figures of Buena Vista Park, and people-watching in Duboce Park. Buena Vista Park also features public tennis courts, which are situated about a half-mile uphill from the main location of the park. However, nearby Panhandle Park has basketball courts, running, biking, and wide-open fields. If you include hardware stores, pharmacies, and dry cleaners, you've found it all in this neighborhood. No matter how far you're walking, you will find an incredible variety of tasty restaurants within a short walking distance. The location is also a disappointment to the home chef because fancy grocery stores surround it. Because many buses and the Muni go through, this neighborhood can get to and from downtown in 20 minutes. This may also be because the shuttle stops are only a few blocks apart.

Haight Ashbury used to be connected with the counter-culture revolution, but it is significantly more refined these days. Many of the city's most unusual properties, public spaces, and stores may be found here. It is the world's most-visited tourist attraction, of course.

In the city's most popular retail location, the Haight radiates. In addition to this, you may find old and new books, antique and stylish clothes, as well as upscale chocolates and secondhand music. There are plenty of bars with a high profile, but it doesn't prevent upcoming mixologists from getting in. There is an unlimited number of dining options once evening rolls around.

These houses, many recently renovated in eye-catching colors, can be found in the area. Homes located on the east side of the panhandle are especially popular. Another option for the investor is a multi-unit apartment building or condo.

Surrounded by beautiful parks, the Haight is lovely. Biking, playing basketball, or simply chilling by the bandstand is a popular pastime in the Panhandle. While there are many cultural and recreational activities in Golden Gate Park, some of the more impressive sights are the California Academy of Sciences and the de Young Museum. Located in the eastern part of the neighborhood, Buena Vista Park is used by joggers, dog walkers, and residents who enjoy beautiful views.

Oak and Fell streets both run along the north boundary of the neighborhood, allowing fast access to downtown and freeways. Buses go through the neighborhood, as does a Muni streetcar that stops a few blocks south of Haight. Cyclists enter the neighborhood by using a trail called The Wiggle.

The Haight-Ashbury Street Fair is held on the second Sunday of June each year, attracting thousands of people, and Haight Street is closed to vehicular traffic between Stanyan and Masonic during the event. During the street fair, each sound stage is located at the intersection of two different streets.
