Welcome to China Basin

A suburb built on a landfill near the San Francisco Bay is referred to as China Basin. It is located to the north of Mission Creek and Mission Bay, and it is home to Oracle Park, several restaurants, and the Caltrain station. South of Market (SOMA) roughly bounds the area to the northwest to the northwest and South Beach to the northeast. It is also referred to as China Basin since that is where the area gets its name. This inlet, where Mission Creek empties into the bay, is home to a lot of houseboats. It was originally an active industrial waterfront but has been expanded with residential condominiums in recent decades. The section of the waterway adjacent to the ballpark is frequently referred to as McCovey Cove, after San Francisco Giants pitcher Willie McCovey. The China Basin Heliport (IATA code JCC), which the SFPD Aero Division utilized until it was decommissioned, was located in the neighborhood along the coastline.
